Very clean and quiet in our room. Staff friendly and very nice breakfast. Thought it was good value for money. Plenty of parking.

Loved thd atmosphere, the decor, the space etc. Liked food and log fires. Staff were relaxed and unhurried. Park and ride to Chester cheap snd only a mile away which was fantastic as car parks in the city are incredibly tight on space.
Food & drinks: Lovely food.

Room was very good, with a comfortable bed and separate shower room. Breakfast was good.
Small problems were that the toilet would flush but would not flush away what needed flushing away, I had to remove the cistern cover and fill up with water from the sink to just below the overflow level to make it flush correctly. While we were not watching tv we put it on briefly in the morning and BBC 1 picture was very poor and jumping and freezing and ITV had no reception at all, saying there was no signal.

Excellent stay again as we came same time last year.
This was carried over becuase I has booked via the website initally for a football trip earlier in the year but the game was rearranged. Therefore phoned the Hotel direct and they were excellenty at accomodating a change of date so much so that we booked an extra night.
Staff were very frioendly and efficient.
Room was lovely, no complaints.
We left early on the Sunday as we were up but the inter connecting door was still shut at just gone 8am, so we used the night entrance to get to the car park but took some time to locate a member of staff to drop off the key.
The hot tap in the wash basin just kept spurting out water rather than running normally and the side lamp on the left hand side of the bed on the wall had come away and needs resecuring, loioks like this has happened before and screws need re tightening, I did but it back as best that I could.

Really nice rooms- warm and cosy and very tastefully decorated. It was a shame that the choice of continental breakfast was very limited- tea, coffee, juice - and the only choice of cereal was Weetabix. On the other hand the full breakfast was excellent- one of the best I've had at a hotel.

We loved the room and bathroom. The pub served a lovely roast dinner. We liked the location next to the canal.
We found breakfast too expensive and so decided against having it.
Nearby activities: We enjoyed a day out at cheshire Oaks and also exploring Chester

Very rare that I can’t find a fault with a place, but I’m struggling with this place. The room in the annex wasn’t the largest but perfectly formed with all we needed for the night. I was initially disappointed that it wasn’t overlooking …

All the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was lovely, with a nice big comfy bed. The bathroom was lovely, with the shower being spacious and always hot running water too. The food was incredible, we had evening meal on our arrival day and we had breakfast the morning after, there are plenty of vegan options and also just general accommodations as my partner did not want a full breakfast so he could just choose the items he wanted instead. We shall be visiting again as there is more to see and do in Chester!

Great; Clean, tidy & comfortable room. Good size bathroom. Shower had handheld and overhead options. Fan in the room (thank you 😊).
Improvements: Water pressure was poor. Slow check-in where several members of staff walked past the check-in area but no-one made eye contact. I appreciate it was busy but no acknowledgement that you’re even stood there isn’t great customer service.

Room was really lovely and comfy, grateful a fan was supplied as very hot in there!
Initially, check in was good too, the person who checked us in was thorough.
We had dinner there and were disappointed though. Service was slow and the waiting on staff were really nonchalant and their customer service was lacking, we found we had to approach the bar several separate times to ask them to place our food order, to find out where our drinks were etc.
After we received our starters and they were cleared we requested to move tables as my sisters baby was struggling with the temperature and noise and we didn’t want to disturb other patrons. When our main food was served one of the steaks was the wrong cut and severely over cooked so we sent it back.
We had to go to the bar for the bill as no one approached us.
The girl we spoke to seemed unenthusiastic and nonchalant, no service with a smile. We tried to use the app for the £20 discount and we’re told even though the bar code was there we couldn’t use it as it was less than 24hrs. Unsure why a barcode would appear to be used then not be allowed to be used? Requested to speak to a manager who then told us the same thing and there was nothing he could do. We asked if we could settle the bill when we checked out but were told it had to be settled there and then, which we found comical considering nobody had made an effort to ask us if we wanted any puddings or the bill then suddenly there was an urgency to pay. Advised the manager of the lack of customer service and slow service from the waiting on staff who told us this was because we moved tables. Not sure what the excuse for the service was prior to us moving tables? I also don’t think when a customer complains you should be blaming them. It seemed like whatever we had an issue with they had an answer for that blamed us.
We stayed for drinks outside and ordered puddings through the app. Ended up going to ask where puddings were as an hour later they hadn’t arrived. Was told that they thought we had ordered main meals which was why our puddings hadn’t come. Even though our main meals that we had were hours ago, weren’t ordered through the app and were under a different name and the bill had already been settled for them?!
Breakfast the next morning- the staff were lovely, really friendly and chatty. Breakfast being served was a little slow and my poached eggs yolk was hard but it was all fine. Glad we had much better service though as we were feeling really disappointed at the lack of customer service the night before.
I’ve heard really good things about the Cheshire Cat for staying and eating so was disappointed in the service and quality of food, this really let it down. I also want to say that when a customer complains, you then don’t throw the blame back on them.
Overall the customer service was just really disappointing.
